2011 SAMMI AWARDS

ART COLLECTION

This year the SAMMI Awards partnered with artEAST Art Center in Issaquah Washington to coordinate the SAMMI Call for Art. The 2011 theme chosen by the SAMMI Board was "Decade of Inspiration" in celebration of the tenth anniversary of Sammamish’s beloved SAMMI Awards, which honor the spirit of unselfish giving within the community.  Persons of any age and working in any art medium, who either live, work or volunteer in the Greater Sammamish area, were invited to submit their artworks.  With twenty one wonderful submissions collected, our nine jurors selected ten award winners and one student honorable mention.  These eleven artworks are presented to you below as the “2011 SAMMI Awards Art Collection”.

Each artwork was professionally photographed by the SAMMI Design Team for use in the Awards Ceremony video and program. The Winning Artwork, "Sunrise, Sammamish Backroads" by Dorothy Bonneau set the creative tone and design concepts for the Awards Ceremony and program.  Gail Baker’s mandala, “We Are All Part of the Circle, II”, was chosen as the new SAMMI Awards Stamp for future correspondence.  Each of the winning artworks has been featured in various segments throughout the SAMMI Awards video, and the top five pieces have been published in the Awards Ceremony program.

Along with an Art Preview Reception and the Opening Exhibition the night of the Awards Ceremony, this collection will travel to various galleries in surrounding local areas from March through the end of September this year.  An Exhibition Schedule is available on the left navigation bar.  You may click on each photo below to view an Artist Statement from each of the artists, highlighting their thoughts and ideas surrounding their artwork in general, or the work they created for this exhibition. Many of the artworks are for sale; pricing info is included below each selection.

Please enjoy the “2011 SAMMI Awards Art Collection”!
